Blandtown was originally established after the Civil War by formerly enslaved families, including descendants of Felix Bland, for whom the neighborhood is named. Over time it became an industrial hub, and today it stands as one of the Westside's most visible examples of Atlanta's ongoing growth and revitalization with it’s proximity to the businesses, creative spaces, and walkable destinations of the changing Upper Westside of Atlanta.
Bolton is Upper Westside Atlanta's most historic neighborhood. Known for its industrial roots, growing residential community, and convenient access to the Chattahoochee River and major city destinations. It serves as the major artery to Buckhead and Midtown Atlanta. While often overlooked on modern maps, Browntown remains an important part of the Upper Westside's story, reflecting the generations of families who helped shape the area's character and culture.
Hanover West is an affluent Buckhead community with spatial homes and mansions. The association has Pickleball, tennis, pool, and trails connecting to Northside Drive and Cross Creek Golf Course.
Hills Park is nestled near the railroad tracks near Bolton Academy. Includes Bolton subdivisions: DuPont Commons, Westside Station, Adams Park, and has a growing high-end apartment complex community. The PATH runs through connecting directly to Blandtown and Howell Mill Station.
The Westside Atlanta community, Grove Park, is a vibrant neighborhood rooted in history, resilience, and community. Donald Lee Holloway aka Bankhead Hwy, is the straightaway road minutes to downtown. Legacy leaders nurturing future leaders - where new opportunities are emerging alongside long-standing traditions. Hugging Midtown Atlanta, just north of Atlantic Station and next to Buckhead, Loring Heights is a charming neighborhood of approximately 300 homes that feels like a hidden retreat despite its central location. Its active neighborhood association has meticulously maintained Loring Heights Park, complete with its beloved duck pond, playground, and gardens, while the wooded trails of Tanyard Creek Greenspace offer residents a peaceful escape into nature. Rich in history and charm, Loring Heights provides the perfect blend of community, green space, and convenient access to Northside Drive and some of Atlanta's most vibrant destinations.
Fernleaf includes Defoors Park and the "Galloway" baseball fields. This Buckhead community boasts neighborhood charm and is a quick connector from Moores Mill Publix to Historic Howell Mill Station.
Ridgewood Heights is a neighborhood association that includes Margaret Mitchell and Fernleaf. Named after famed Atlanta author Margaret Mitchell, the Margaret Mitchell neighborhood is a welcoming Upper Westside community known for its established homes, tree-lined streets, and strong neighborhood connections. Conveniently located near parks, local businesses, and major Atlanta destinations, the neighborhood offers a blend of residential charm and urban accessibility.
Nestled along the Chattahoochee River, Riverside is one of Atlanta's most historic and active Upper Westside neighborhoods. Led by a passionate neighborhood association, residents have spent years championing greenspace preservation, trail connectivity, and river access. Today, those efforts are taking shape through the development of the Atlanta Riverlands Park project at Lower Paul Park, a future riverfront destination that will connect Riverside to the larger Chattahoochee RiverLands trail network and provide expanded public access to the river.
This area contains the largest neighborhood and subdivision in the area, West Highlands is a community of scale and connectivity. Bridging Proctor Creek, Grove Park, and the Upper Westside Atlanta's hilltop neighborhoods, it serves as a gathering point where parks, trails, and neighbors come together. It also includes the Northwest Library at Scotts Crossing.
Neighboring Fernleaf, Hanover West, and Berkeley Park, Underwood Hills is a Buckhead neighborhood so charming, you forget is surrounded by the 75 HWY, Northside Dr., and heavy traffic. Established in 1902.
Tucked away on the edge of Atlanta’s Upper Westside, Whittier Mill is cherished as one of our most historic neighborhoods and includes the 17-acre Whittier Mill Village Park. For many families, it’s a place filled with memories — playground adventures, picnics in the field, hikes along the river trails, and watching the trains roll by. With original shotgun houses and bungalows still standing and the historic Whittier family home overlooking it all, this tight-knit community continues to shine thanks to neighbors who deeply care about preserving and protecting its character. Whittier Mill includes the subdivision, Vinings on the Chattahoochee, though it is not included in the historical portion of the neighborhood.
